Much bigger store than the North Hill location. Upon entering we were greeted and directed to the section we needed. At the shoes side had an associate who helped us navigate through the different types of jogging and running shoes. Only thing was that they did not carry Merrel running g shoes which is available online.
I came in here to return and look at dog products. I have an extremely well trained dog that is my service animal. I walked in, within two seconds the cashier abandoned her paying customer to come harass me. I was told only service dogs were allowed, she assumed I didn’t have a disability. I wasn’t asked if she was and I have anxiety/PTSD and many customers were staring at me due to the cashier leaving her post so I just left. I suggest you get employees that have empathy and awareness. Won’t come back to this REI and called corporate to let them know about this behavior.
Everyone was nice & helpful! They have sooo many things for hiking, camping, running etc. was nice to see so many things in store to try on/out. The snacks were a bit expensive being I buy they all the time but nice store, should def have what you need!
This REI is a great place to look for anything for your outdoors, camping, hiking, mountain climbing, biking, and other recreations. It’s clean, organized, and has wide selections of almost everything you essentially need for an outdoor experience. They also have re-supply (or slightly used) stuff for those who wants to save money on shoes and other stuff. There is a membership here, although anyone can walk in and buy gears needed for outdoor activities and the like.
Although I live near the Durham REI, I went to this location since I was lured by some Merrell hiking boots that were on sale that I thought they had in this REI. When I got there, the sales person was great and helped me try on the boots with enough room for warm socks. She also had me climb there rock simulator to make sure there wasn't a lot of slipping and sliding. Would have gotten a size too small if I had ordered online. She then told me the sale pair I wanted was actually out of stock although it was coming up in their inventory so she helped me order them in store to be shipped to my home. Great experience and kudos to the staff in this store!
Love this location. Mark in the bicycle section is beyond amazing and such a gem! He was there when I bought my bike and has been extremely helpful when I’ve gone back with questions.
Much bigger store and more variety than the North Hills location. They have a great selection of jackets, even brands that I haven’t seen before. You’ll also find many clearance racks here that are fully-stocked. This location is also tucked in an easily accessible shopping center; not seen from the main road. Only issue here is that they have the women’s and men’s coats in the middle-area with no signs, but you’ll figure out which is which. I also do have better customer service experiences at the North Hills location; much more friendly and helpful staff there.
Amazingly enough given the state of extremely worn-out junk on their return shelf, the staff at this REI interrogated me like the KGB when I tried to return some brand new pants (with tags still on) that don't fit. Even though I had bought them with my "coop membership", I was forced to search my email in my phone to show proof of my purchase. I've literally spent a four digit amount of money with this company since I got onto backpacking because of their reputation for not doing stuff like this. I'll be taking my business to Great Outdoor Provision Company or Backcountry in the future. Thanks.
